US Bitcoin ETFs Experience $225M Outflow, Breaking Seven-Day Positive Inflow Streak

A seven-day streak of positive flows for U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) concluded on Thursday, which marked the funds' first session of net outflows recorded since July 13.

According to data from SoSoValue, spot Bitcoin ETFs registered $225.2 million in net outflows on Thursday. This withdrawal followed a robust period during which the funds had accumulated nearly $1 billion in net inflows over the previous seven trading sessions.

Despite the outflows on Thursday, the funds' performance for the week remained in positive territory. As of Thursday, they had still managed to attract about $274 million in total net inflows.

The shift in investor activity coincided with a downturn in the cryptocurrency's price, as Bitcoin briefly fell below the $65,000 threshold. This dip occurred as U.S. stocks declined amidst renewed geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran. According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin was trading at $65,403 at the time of publication, after having declined to a low of $64,600.

The broader market sentiment for Bitcoin also showed signs of weakening. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index, reported by Alternative.me, decreased by 3 points to land at 28. This score kept the index firmly within "fear" territory on Friday.

In contrast to the trend seen with Bitcoin products, U.S.-listed spot Ether ETFs continued their positive run. These funds extended their inflow streak to five consecutive days, attracting a net total of $26.3 million on Thursday, as per SoSoValue data.
