Copper's US Division Gains Key Regulatory Approvals from SEC and FINRA

Digital asset infrastructure provider Copper has successfully established a regulated presence in the United States, a significant move achieved after its local entity became a broker-dealer registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

In an announcement on Wednesday, Copper confirmed that its American subsidiary, Copper Markets (US) Inc., has been formally accepted as a member of FINRA. This development allows the firm to extend its institutional custody and trading infrastructure into the U.S. market.

Public records from FINRA's BrokerCheck service corroborate these developments, showing Copper Markets with an approved SEC registration status dated August 7. The records also identify FINRA as the company’s designated self-regulatory organization.

With these regulatory milestones met, Copper's U.S. arm will now introduce a range of services for its clients. These will include qualified custody, staking, financing, and over-the-counter (OTC) services. Furthermore, customers will be granted access to the firm’s proprietary ClearLoop Network, a platform that enables institutions to pledge and transfer crypto and tokenized assets as collateral between counterparties.

The company framed this expansion as the formal establishment of its U.S. business as a “Qualified Custodian.” This term is noteworthy because, under SEC regulations, registered broker-dealers that hold client assets in customer accounts are eligible to be classified as custodians.
